Pollution in California

California is home to eight of the 10 cities in America where air pollution is worst. The situation is even worse in California’s Central Valley, where a combination of farming, industry, traffic and topography has made the air quality so bad that four regional metropolitan areas rank among the nation’s top 10 dirtiest cities, according to the American Lung Association.

Why is air pollution a problem in California

Three main factors are behind the unhealthy levels of air pollution in California:

  • large amounts of air pollution are generated by the activities of 33 million people,
  • terrain or topography traps pollution,
  • a warm, sunny climate helps form ozone and other air pollutants.

All nine National Parks in California including Yosemite and Joshua Tree are dealing with significant air pollution problems according to a recent report released by the National Parks organization.

Pollution in California relates to the degree of pollution in the air, water, and land of the state of California. Pollution is defined as the addition of any substance (solid, liquid, or gas) or any form of energy (such as heat, sound, or radioactivity) to the environment at a faster rate than it can be dispersed, diluted, decomposed, recycled, or stored in some harmless form.

In Los Angeles in the West, extreme heat, combined with thick smoke from wildfires and air pollution from millions of cars, is making the air in some places dangerous to breathe.

Though California cities have the nation’s worst air quality, as usual, a recent report finds that smog and soot pollution is increasing in other U.S. cities as well. In recent years, as California’s air pollution map shifted from a healthier green and yellow to red and purple — and then dark purple — officials from Los Angeles to North California urged all residents to watch out and reduce the pollution and waste materials they create.

The main culprit for pollution in California and anywhere else is human consumption, or rather excessive consumption, which generates garbage, junk materials, packaging, plastics, debris and all sorts of unwanted items they will later add to pollution levels. So any family or business that has a large quantity of litter that want to discard should use their local CA dumpster rental services company to remove it. Proper waste management is one way to limit pollution and make sure our junk is optimally taken care of.

Water pollution in California

Our rivers, lakes, and coastal waters have long been treated as unlimited resources, big and hardly enough to handle whatever we took out or dumped in. But that’s not true, and these waters need to be able to cleanse themselves.

Water pollution law and updates include stormwater benchmarks, stormwater plan of action, stormwater oil sheen sock, stormwater sampling california, stormwater rain information, stormwater engineer services, health and safety consultation, stormwater consultant and other legislations related to local pollution in California.

Marine debris is a global pollution problem that impacts human health and safety, endangers wildlife and aquatic habitats, and costs local and national economies millions in wasted resources and lost revenues. In additon polluted runoff (also known as nonpoint source pollution) comprises the majority of pollution in the ocean off California. When it rains or when you water your lawn or you wash your car, water picks up pollutants and carries them into our storm drains.
